In a nutshell, the answer is yes. While traditional metal braces require between 18 and 24 months of treatment, Invisalign requires only 12 months. However, the time required to achieve the desired results is primarily determined by the complexity of the treatment plan.
After you have completed all of your initial scans, the trays are usually sent to the practice within 2 weeks.
You will have a maximum of 14 aligner trays, which will significantly shorten your treatment time. You’ll only be required to wear them for about 6-7 months. Unlike traditional braces with brackets and wires, you can eat and drink whatever you want during that time because you can take the trays out of your mouth.
Invisalign appointments are brief. Sometimes buttons are placed, or contours are polished, which may take up to 30 minutes, but most visits are less than that. During these visits, the dentist verifies that teeth are moving as planned and adjusts teeth as needed.
Although some dentists attend orthodontic conventions and watch tutorials, they are not necessarily certified to treat misaligned and crowded teeth in the same way that an orthodontist does. Orthodontists are far more qualified than dentists who have not received proper Invisalign training to provide your Invisalign.
Invisalign is the only orthodontic treatment that general dentists can provide. If you go to your dentist about teeth straightening, they will only discuss Invisalign treatments because that is the only option they have been trained on.
Many orthodontists will tell you that Invisalign treatment can take 6 – 12 months or longer, depending on your situation. There is no one-size-fits-all solution for determining the duration of your treatment. This is because each patient will have unique tooth alignment issues.
While wearing your removable aligners, dental professionals advise you to avoid drinking alcoholic beverages such as red or white wine. However, if you cannot resist the urge, you should remove your aligners while drinking.
